While waiting for rest of the packages to arrive, I made some small adjustments and tweaks all over the suit to improve accuracy and fitting.
I installed the steel jetpack hooks to the jetpack and made a backup stiching to the harness system. If the jetpack is to fall off then it won't be because of the hooks because those things are sturdy! Harness also carries the weight of the pack PERFECTLY, it doesn't put uncomfortable pressure on the torso and it's almost as if it wasn't even there. Outstanding work made by BFUK.
Some color tweaks were still to be done all over the costume, I painted the top of one of the collar studs red and also the knee launchers to have those black and red details. Cod piece still lacked the white studs on the hips so I made and painted those and installed them to the armor. Locitus suggested I should add a dirty "glass" or a clear visor to cover the chest lights, so I cut out a sheet of plastic package material, sprayed some weatheringon it and slided it between the armor and the lightboard. Finally we did a "quick" test fitting and took some pics of the costume. It's pretty close already...
I like the weathering on the JP and the blasters! Nice effects!
You did a good job with the sidearm holster. When I scratchbuilt mine I used sign plastic that I reinforced with fiberglass matting/ resin. I used pictures of the Nemrod holsters and traced around the sidearm until I had a basic shape to work with. I painted it using a black matte pain from a can. It was close in shape.... and very, very light. A real FP Nemrod holster will be heavy in comparison.
Clonecollectors holster scratchbuild sounds really good. I have no experience of working with fibreglass at all, so it didn't even cross my mind to use it as part of the sidearm holster build! Would you happen to have pictures of it? After all this one is just for the time being, until I can find a more accurate replacement.
Thanks again for the compliments, I look forward to completing this soon and also upgrading the helmet!
Today I installed the last required costume components! We held a photoshoot and I got to pose in the completed costume. Holster and helmet upgrades are on their way, but they will proceed in the background. As I've learnt from here, a Fett costume is never completely finished, but now I'm just gonna lean back, wait for feedback or correction instructions and enjoy the newly completed project!
Thanks for the feedback guys! I'll definately keep it evolving and am open for any and all suggestions and ideas. It will be a long run campaign to make it better and better as the time goes forward. I'll see if I can tighten the neckseal some way. Any other improvement ideas?
My new helmet kit should be here next week or so, and I'm waiting Stormrider to start his holster run to replace the scratchbuilt one I have. I look forward to trying the helmet paintjob, there has been a lot of inspirational threads in TDH Helmet section lately...
Great work man! Hoping to see my Fett besides yours soon. The Boba Twins of Finland... That will never go out.
But everyone, check Frenzy's posting dates! He accomplished this in less than half a year! I saw those Fettpride armour bits untrimmed just before last December!
Cheers guys. I have finally reached the initial goal and I'm now BH-8938 of the 501st Legion! First Fett in Finland, feels great.
I want to heartfully thank the Dented Helmet as a community and database as without the magnificent resource and helpful members this wouldn't have turned as it is. Thanks for everyone who have shared their thoughts so far and especially to clonecollector for gauntlets, support and cheering along the way. Also a big hand to the talented propmakers on this forum. You do a great favour for us!
As soon as my new helmet gets here, I'll start a painting progress blog under this same thread. I hope I'm able to pull it off.
A slight bump, but just wanted to show this stuff off! I finally got to make my first troop in the 501st, a great experience! We were entertaining the kids and promoting an Xbox360 Kinect play area in a local amusement park. The new Star Wars game was well presented and they wanted our garrison to send a couple of characters to appear near the Kinect area. Lots of happy faces. Again, it was a blast and a good start for my Fett career!
I had a small accident with the EE-3 blaster though and that's why it lacks a scope in some pics... Nothing dramatic and it will be good to go again this weekend as we have a bigger trooping event.
