01Hawk WIP : Supertrooper

Doing some work... I didn't like the other uppers for the sling gun I made so I made a 4th. I will have to buy some Moldstar this week and will make a mold/cast of it. I think it will turn out pretty nice.

emailed Steve Sansweet at Rancho Obi-Wan for better pics or any info he has on the yellow things on the side plate of the Uzi. That's counts as working on the build I think.

No word from Rancho Obi-wan yet on the Uzi parts. I have decided to use this for one of my jetpack greeblies for now. It isn't correct but I haven't found a red knurled piece I like yet, or even a brass one that would work for me. I will be adding the brass part to the bottom after a trip to the hardware store. Determined to find the correct one though.

Have a show this weekend and Celebration so I kinda wanted to have a sling gun. I'm still working on making nice receiver parts but I put this together for now. Looks good from a distance but needs a lot of work yet. Redid my Uzi as well. The Graflex is too long but I didn't have the heart to cut my original. When I get the castings done I will use one of those

Wow beautiful guns there. The many blue and yellow containers of Smooth-on products are very familiar lol

I was grinding it down , just got sidetracked by the gun and flamethrower projects haha. I found this part from a prior thread on here.. forget who posted it but here is the one I bought
- will play with the link tomorrow. For some reason when I shared it is put all my info up. It is a magnetic screw holder

Got to meet Alan Harris yesterday. He was pretty happy to see the suit - he said he hadn't seen many at shows , usually just Bossk fans. Great guy. I broke the connector for my Right gauntlet hose. Will have to find a way to keep the wire in the hose and used a clip or something in my sleeve like everyone else. Only a few more things to do and it will be complete ( I don't think it will ever be " done).

Trying to get this thing as close as accurate for Celebration as I can. One issue with the Supertrooper is that it is different in each set of reference pics. for now here is my lower pack with the wrong switch on it. I can't find the real switch yet which has a very narrow almost pin like shaft with what appears to be a knurled head. Also added white top/bottom whip cord coloring and a brass looking front piece.

You can also see the screw that used to hold the connector piece to the upper gauntlet sticking out. It broke off Sunday because I had the hose running over my back.

Also paint the tips of the alco switches black....theyre not the right ones...and the right ones had black tips

Ugh I hope they weren't 90 degree ones cause I got a huge bag of regulars lol. I will double check the pic. I have held off on painting the switches because I have one pic where the one is red I think. I will be sure to message you Saturday too!

Sry if i missed it but im going for the same closure method on the same gaunts. how did you adhere the hinges to the gaunts? Any failures? Thanks.

I used 5 minute epoxy spread all over them. Aside from needing 2 people to put them on ( which I have to have for other parts anyway) they work great like that in my opinion. I will post pics of the insides later for you. I try to sand the "pins" down to make them slide easier and you have to make sure you tuck your sleeve down in the lower one shell to make sure it doesn't block the open holed in the hinges.
