The Modern Gentleperson's Paint List and Technique Guide (Starting with ESB)

Hey y'all! I have a strange passion for paint accessibility and transparency in the Fett community, and all of our ancient paint guides promote out of date/discontinued/neigh impossible to get paints, and that is just such a drag. Humbrol's cans SUUUCK, Model Masters is out of business and the...

    Jetpack fit issue

Hey Nik! No need to give up! Your vest is too tight, and if you can't let it out any, you may need a new one. Sorry bud. If you can let it out, do so, and then you'll have to make new JP holes. That bottom cross bar buttonholes out just above the hem (my vest is packed away for the next couple...

    RafalFett's Boba Fett 3D Projects

Hey Raf! Beautiful work! I may have missed it somewhere in the thread, and apologize if I did, but the last part I need is the AM Ariel Plug file. I saw that I could get the set on Shapeways, and that the full EE-3 was on 3D Warehouse, but couldn't find *just* the plugs. It also could be that...

    3D Print advice?

I second the Glazing putty/filler primer method. It's what I use on everything.

Scratch build parts list and cost analysis

There are a handful of beautiful scratchbuilt helmets on here, but if you need to buy all the materials, and then spend 40+ hours building it, I always vote buying a cast. Helmets are usually $135-$250 depending on lineage. And if you're just doing a mando, then there's no need for you to hit...

    Let's talk Jetpack Harnesses

The rectangular rings are not only accurate, but when paired with the accurate hooks, totally safe! Quick release parachute buckles are a bit too recognizable by the general population.

    Let's talk Jetpack Harnesses

Oh yeah, the price doesn't scare me at all! For me, I'm trying to sacrifice accuracy for comfort on this one weight bearing component. In my mind, I just couldn't imagine a metal harp against your back being comfortable. THAT SAID: A local Fett let me borrow his MojoFett harness (which is likely...

    Recommended type of paint?

I find the enamels to be more durable, however, the dry time is so considerable (10ish hours for comfortable "Curing" on Humbrol) that I've made a full switch to exclusively acrylic if I can get the colors there. That said, they're both great!

    Boba Fett has retired

So, I just "finished," painting my helmet, but I didn't do my white thumb print. My plan was that at the next con Jeremy was at, I was going to (pay for a signature) and ask him if he would do it for me. I thought that'd be super cool to have Boba Fett's thumb print on Boba Fett's helmet. But...

    Advise for a newbie

Boba is a BIIIG costume, made of 100 individual parts that all have together just right. It's a long and daunting task. It can be done, and it can be done on a budget, but man oh man does it make it tough. My first rendition of a 501st Fett was set on a $1200 budget, and I did make it, but that...
