Any advice in what to get first to start a SE Costume?

Hi, been thinking a lot about with what to start, dont know if get a helmet, or soft parts first, and more important who to buy them from... right now cant post in the cargo hold, so u understand...

You can still PM sellers in the cargo hold.

For me I've started with trying to acquire the cheapest and completed accessories that need little to no work: flak vest, gloves, braids, neck seal, belts, etc..

Now I'm looking to get the hard parts, either completed or needing work.
I'm currently working on a poor jetpack kit from outside TDH (shame on me for not join sooner), which I thought would be the hardest to acquire and work on.

Getting as many of the easy parts keeps me motivated, knowing that I am almost there, and need to finish. When in actuality I still have a long way to go:rolleyes

AtomWest is right about still being able to message the sellers and that is exactly what I did. Most people start with the helmet so keep an eye on the cargo hold and you'll occasionally see completed helmets come up for sale. If your looking for a kit then Animefan makes a few and Darth Voorhees makes some to but I think he's taking a break from helmets for a bit. I would recommend avoiding buying a helmet from someone not on TDH because it will more often than not be less accurate and of lesser quality. If you do find one that you think is just to good to pass up ask here about the seller or the item first to avoid getting burned by a bad seller. Other than the helmet Arkady makes great soft parts and Redkraytdragon makes great armor but he's also on a hiatus. I haven't seen a single part or a replica of a part that hasn't shown up in the cargo hold.

thanks to both; didnt know about the pm, did a little research and found a very interest topic of someone looking for the best prop makers (boba maker, fp, and asok) but información think im gonna go look in the cargo and start with a flight suit from manowar

I'd recommend Arkady as well for the soft parts. Manofwarstudious mskes some good stuff too, but I'd recommend Arkady first for accuracy and she tailors to your measurements. And she's a treat to do business with.

Im in a similar boat as you Alesisvillo, I'm going to creep on this thread and borrow all the good advice. More and more I'm diggin Animefan's helmet kit, I'm still researching but I think I may start there.

A couple of more subtle specifics on the SE which you might not be aware.

If you are seeking 501st approval for your SE,the CRL for the costume is not complete. As such ultimately your approval will need signed off by several people...including Major who is the detachment leader for the 501st Bounty Hunter Guild. If you are seeking 501st approval there are actually 2 different SE outfits that are approvable. One is based on the Promo shots, the other is what was used in the filming of the SE shots. It is critical that you know which avenue you want to go after since there are costly and distinct differences between the two outfits. For example, the filming SE outfit uses ESB armor dents not RoTJ armor and is painted differently than normal RoTJ armor. The Promo armor actually uses one of the PrePro Knee armor pieces (aka painted differently from the RoTJ armor). Different hoses are used between the two shots, some even are painted differently. Pouches and Spat colors are different between the two shots, Promo uses khaki color spats and pouches, the film version uses the light gray flight suit color.. The working CRL (which is being updated by Major as we speak) can be found here.
