Can anyone recommend an alternative to a t visor? I've just started my first build to see how it turns out and didn't want to spend a great deal of money until I'd made a better bucket, any help would be appreciated!

You can use smoked plexiglass, the ones in the link are a little thick but gives you an idea of what you are looking for once you have the dimensions I used 3mm thick on mine..

Grey Tinted Clear "Smoked" Acrylic Plexiglass 1 4" x 8" x12" Plastic Sheet | eBay ,

Only issue with this is it's flat and will need heat treatment either by really hot water or a lightly going over with a heat gun to bend it into shape, if your helmet is not strong enough you will warp the thing trying to get it in there..

cut it to shape first, heat it then get in position and stick in in place how ever you like, I would get a friend to help you with this or grow another set of hands (y)

Fantastic thanks for that!!

I bought clear styrene sheet in the poster frame area at my local hobby store, and applied car window tint film. I did get a t-visor from t-visor.com, but it's very dark. So I made my own version. By using window tint film, I was able to make a lighter gray, easier to see out of visor. I applied two layers on the vertical part of the T, so it hides my nose. The sheet styrene is very thin and bends easily, but is brittle, so you have to be careful when cutting it.

You can get the acrylic grey 1/8" thick in the same tint as silverstalker linked above.

This is what I did with success:

-Preheat your oven to about 250F (ish), put the acrylic on a cookie sheet and bake for 6 or so minutes.

-Bend the glass over the face of the helmet( put a cloth over the helmet so the heat doesn't damage it.)

-Once it's bent to your liking run it under cold water to set the shape.

Also...Make a visor template with a piece of cereal box cardboard so you can get the fit right before you go cutting on your acrylic.
....imo cut the acrylic after bending it.

i just go to t-visor.com. For the cost and time it takes to make one, you can get a variety of sizes that is nicely laser cut in an accurate 3mm dark smoked acrylic from T-visor.com. The ones i usually get are only $13.
