The longer you work on that costume the easier it will be... At the beginning it was so much to learn and to know but now it feels like everything is clear to me. But the biggest thing - painting the helmet - is still to come...
Used some red plastic behind the slots for the chest display and mounted the display itself on a piece of ABS to keep the two parts together in the right distance.
There is a lot of new stuff to show you! Most of the time I rather use the minutes I have (I have to kids :love) for building the costume then posting here...
I switched the green LED-lights from my Salamanderking light kit to white ones and put everything aside the rangefinder:
And I painted the gauntlets and assembled them using those wonderful threads:
For the left gauntlet I did some electronically work for making the light work. Together with the remote from my Salamaderking rangefinder-servo-kit everything will be hidden behind a plate to protect it.
I did the base silver-layer on the jetpack and let it dry. The I painted with masking-film everything that remains silver and painted all parts green. After that I painted the black weathering and removed the most of it after drying with steel-wool.
Then I removed the masking-fluid and finshed the piano-keys, fuel-tank caps and did some weathering with gray and rust-like colour. And I did the gray damage markings using a brush.
Almost forgot to show you this:
I put on everything that is ready now (except the jetpack) to see how it looks. After that I had twenty new points on my TO-DO list... :wacko
One of the screws on my right shoulder was getting loose, one on the chest armor too and a lot other small things must be done. Maybe more weathering on the flight suit and the flakvest and I still don't know if I will weather the ammo belt because I don't think it was weathered in the movie (but it looks so new compared to the other items).
