Magnets for Gauntlets

Once painted they aren't even noticeable. Just don't bolt thru them, glue them. I wouldn't have used hinges had I used bolts thru the gauntlet like I have seen some others do. I assume you don't plan on doing them that way.

If you need any more photos just let me know I'm happy to take some.

Thanks! i was looking at the various hinges at Lowes last night. I am going to play with the piece I bought and see if it works. If not I want to finish them this weekend so I will have to decide

I wouldn't want the hinge exposed either. It does show once you start looking for it. Hinges are great if you turn them around backwards. Choose one side to glue and stay glued on top and bottom, and which side you want to allow to flex to help with installation/removal. May need to bend/contour the flats on the hinge for a better fit.
Leave this pin long so you can bend it and have as the key. You should still be able to have your gaunts flush this way, and be able to put them on by yourself.

Hawk, here is a completed photo. Hard to see because I make sure everything is black but my servo controller is on the right velcrod to the gauntlet.

Thanks for the pic! They look really clean. I did see some small hinges at Lowes I didn't think I would mind. I'm not trying to go against the norm or anything, just looking at different ways of doing stuff. To get them done I may just put the hinge on and buy another set in the future. In my mind though there has to be a simple way to make them just slide together.

Since your brainstorming on the attachments.. when you said "slide together" it reminded me that i had an idea once to use metal u track and a "beam" to try and make them slide together...but i never really looked into it much further than a thought as i found other ways easier.... dont even know if it would work...but just something to put in your brain lol
