VISOR HELP ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was installing a pre-cut, visor into a rubies Jango and the blasted plastic got superglue on it!!! What do I do to get it off? I can't see out of it now! PLEASE HELP!

From my knowledge...I don't think there is a way to get it off. I think it is a chemical reaction between the plastic and the glue...

I snapped my visor the first time putting it in. I seriously reccomend using JB Qwik Weld, followed up with a coating of hot glue on the inside. I'm assuming you were using the superglue to help it hold faster? I had the same issue with my Rubies bucket...it flexed too much for me to hot glue it in. I ended up using the JB and doing small spots at a time. First starting with the left brow, then right, then left cheek and right cheek. Took me about an hour total to get it fully glued in.

Super-glue + plastic = garbage.

Sorry. I've been a Superglue devotee my entire hobby life and if there is one fact I've learned the hard way it is this one. I tend to not even let superglue near anything clear (or transparent) plastic anymore, because even if you don't get it on the main surface of what you are working on the chemical reaction of the cyanoacrylate can "fog" the edges of your piece.

You can try Super glue remover and it might clear it off some, but the base damage will always be there.

You may be able to salvage the visor to use as a pattern, though. I think I've read about some welding visors that members buy for their buckets. I haven't researched it too much because I'm not at the helmet stage yet.

I put my visor in with studs glued into the helmet and then i drilled holes into the visor for the studs to go threw then i just put a nut on the stud and tightned it down into the helmet and reinforced it with industrial str velcro.

I'm afraid you'll have to live and learn on this on. Even though its such a small mistake it will be an eyesore forever. You can however try and get it off with a razorblade being very careful not the dig into the lense, but it would be very hard superglue tends to chemicaly bond to some plastics.

Yah it's not too big a deal as it's a bucket for one of my friends doing his first suit and it's not in a spot you'll see it too well. I was just hoping there was something to get it off is all.

It might pop off with yourfingernail if you let it dry good and it didnt melt into the visor.

Those acrylic visors are a nightmare anyway.I have snapped a few.I just use welding visors now, as they have flex.
And all I use is goop(best glue ever) once the visor is position.Let it dry overnight and bam holds like a dream and it is thick(gives a nice bead) unlike superglue, which is a [pain to use.Just wedge something in the helmet to push the visor against the front while the glue dries.
One of the best things about goop is it never gets brittle.Great for vinyl helms especially.
You want to mask any future visors off in the viewing area before you apply any glue.
You could try some adhesive remover but I think that visor is a goner.

another vote from me for goop!

what i usually do for something like a visor is to tack it into place with hot glue so that it doesn't move around on me, then goop in around the hot glue.

once the goop is set, you can either pry out the hot glue (though the laws of hot glue apply - it will never hold when you need it to, but won't ever come out when you want it to.) or just leave the hot glue.

I attempted to install my visor over the weekend and F*ed it all up!
Had to toss it and buy another one...

I used goop, and used these spring action C clamps I got at the dollar store to hold the mandibles to the visor overnight while the goop dried. It worked very well

I used hot glue and it worked great! I had attempted to use putty epoxy, but it didn't stick too well to my don post 96. The hot glue did the trick because it not only melted the glue, but also warmed up the helmet too.

Superglue will ruin anything clear. You need to start over and use 2-part epoxy found a Home Depot or a hardware store. Then check out TK409's web site, he has directions on installation.
