Thanks everyone! It's really encouraging to hear the positive feedback. Raf, I couldn't have done it without your incredible templates. Thanks for the time you spent putting those together.
Primed and ready for paint. The primer revealed a few rough spots, but once all the other paint is added I'm thinking those spot won't be noticeable. Plus, the helmet is supposed to look damaged.
So as you can see from the thread name changed, I've decided to change my build to the SE Fett. When I started this project I only thought there were two Fetts (ESB and ROTJ). This site as definitely opened my eyes to the many variations of Fett over the years. I love the ESB helmet and I prefer the paint job of ROTJ, so SE is perfect! That being said, here's my helmet as it will appear for the office Halloween party. I still need to paint the ears, attach the borden connector, and somehow find/make a perspex block for the rangefinder. Rather than rush through everything, I'd rather wait and take my time to make sure things look good.
Sorry, the lighting isn't the greatest to truly represent the colors. I finished installing the visor late last night and couldn't help but take a few pictures to share. In reality, the green is a lighter shade and the red is a little more dull. The kill stripes fade from yellow to orange even though they look all yellow. All of the masking was free hand using Raf's stencils as a guide.
Ok, here's what I have so far. I'll post better/more pictures later, but aside from what's missing (gaunlets, jetpack, etc) what do you think? Really be honest. My end goal is the 501st and my "deadline" right now is before Episode 7 so I've got plenty of time to fine tune everything. Thanks again for all the help everyone has given. I really appreciate it.
As promised, here are a few more pictures for your constructive criticism . Also, the helmet looks huge to me. I did Raf's templates at 93% and definitely wouldn't want it any smaller as the visor already pushes on my nose a little. That makes me think it has something to do with the collar plate or vest? In general, I know most of my armor needs a lot more weathering. But what about the size, color, etc?
You did a really great job building everything. The one major qualm I have is with the helmet. Looks like you painted the ears in ROTJ style, but the rest of the helmet in ESB style.
Thanks cbrant, yeah I was under a deadline for a party and decided to leave the ears silver rather than rush through them. I plan on finishing the helmet in the near future though.
