A few months back I sold this baby, my 1915 Mark 1, SN#540:
It went to
Airmarshal, aka Fieldmarshal on RPF, to finish his
EE3 all aluminum CNC project, so I lucked out. We all did. Soon metal copies of this will be available to all, and part of the deal I made with Chris was I would recieve #001 off the line. Like I said, I lucked out. So here it is now (from
Airmarshal's thread):
I sold it mostly because I didn't want to have to engineer the mannequin display to handle the heavy weight. The replicas have gotten really good and are far easier to accommodate without much trouble. And today, my replacement replica arrived. I couldn't be more pleased.
I have to say, as someone who owned a real one for a decade, this
Sidewinder is truly superb and is indistinguishable from the real thing. What a beautiful reproduction it is. I ordered it assembled and painted by Sidewinder because his pictures were so impressive. And it looks even better in person. I also bought one maybe 11 years ago and I just have to say this is orders of magnitude superior. So impressed with this. A work of art to be sure. Not to nitpick but of course there are minor details that will need to be repainted/weathered differently. I will save that for a later post when I get to it. The good news is that it's about 100 million times lighter than a real one and the manny handles it just fine.
