I made my stock using 1/2" sheets of basswood laminated together (I shoulda used 5/8", but my hobby store didn't have it), then cut the overall shape and sanded the bejezus out of it...

The stock bracket is made of 3 layers of 1/8" plastic "wet floor" caution sign laminated as well.
