I used that method, and it sucks. looks like it came straight from the sink.

I agree it is a sucky model but th epoint is that it's a starting point like th esabers on Big Yellow Box. it gives you a method of starting then you improve upon it. I'll take this case as an example. I'd use a sink tailpiece cut off so it's not too long as my starting point and use that elbow joint he has there and maybe a buttcap to round it off, that'd be about acurate if you dress it right.
