Blaster JojoFett95’s Fieldmarshal ESB EE-3 WIP

Hi guys,

I thought it would be a good idea to post my work in progress, to this awesome community. As we all know fieldmarshal’s EE-3 has been a true privilege to this us. Being based in the UK, Chris was very open to ship this bad boy over the pond, to be apart of my ESB build. I’ve noticed different techniques being used, on this Aluminum masterpiece, I’ve taken my knowledge from everyone here, into this project, to add a level of detail most don’t notice, but I’m sure many appreciate (a huge reason why I love this community). Progress will be made this week, as I went the route of getting the Aluminum parts factory anodised. I was extremely lucky, that a local business helped me with this, at a reasonable price.
Here are the parts listed:

. Fieldmarshal Aluminum ESB EE-3 kit & mounts
. Sidewinder greeblies (V8 rods/discs and FM connectors).
.Found parts (Unimax safety switch/Vintage RHINO 4x20 scope - infinity symbol).
.Roman props MPP flash tube

Sounds good! Ive got one of his ROTJ EE-3s but had figured Id just paint it black. Anodizing hadnt even occured to me although I don’t know if there’s anywhere local that will tackle it

I was hesitant at first, as I wanted a finish that would reassemble the real deal. I contacted a few places in the uk, but the prices were ridiculously expensive. It just turned out, a local company specialised in anodising Aluminum, sorted out a awesome deal.I think painting is completely fine, especially when done right, but it’s manly personal preference.

Mail call! : Oh it’s going to be a good day today . Received my anodised parts, back from acornplating. I’m absolutely overjoyed with the results, I couldn’t be more happier. I’ll be putting this metal beast together today, then starts the weathering.

Managed to weather the EE-3, a few passes of acrylic washes and oil washes. Looking at references photos, the original Webley has little weathering, in terms of scratches, it’s easy to get carried away but less is more. Greeblies weathered with ArchiveX “weathered Black”, same with the Found part scope, as seen in close up photos. Scratch’s on scope, due to not being primed, like the original to reveal the letter “H” that can be seen. Miner details have been added on the mount rings, from reference photos also. Last thing to add is the MPP tube, by Roman props, weathering using black weathering powder
& black pigment wash, alike the original was done, you can see in various stages of projection, the paint has mainly been removed from the MPP tube. That’s a lot of weathering lol, but it’s going to be .

She’s done .
Fully anodised EE-3. I gave it a few passes of acrylic washes, then general gun damage. I used gun oil, to loosen the inner mechanics . All greeblies weathered using ArchiveX “weathered black, along with vintage scope and mounts.

Maybe it’s just me but I think it looked better before? I’m not seeing big bronze blotches in any of the reference photos, if there is it looks a lot more subtle than that.

It’s a old steel flare gun so if anything I think it’s got some rust on it. Here’s a comparison with a random photo I found from an auction:

The finish of the ESB EE3 is tough to interpret because of the lack of detailed reference, but I would suggest less bronze and more of a brown colour to simulate the rust coming through the black.

Yeah, I ended up removing the bronze, I used steel wool, but in the end, it ended up better in appearance with no bronze as you mentioned.

Update :
The everlasting sage continues. Subtle changes to my finished EE-3, dyed the Molex connectors. Looking at the reference photos, showing the red base of the hero connectors. I then used liquid latex for the chipped section to imitate the final look, finished with a Matt black and ArchiveX “weathered black”. Now I can say I’m about 95% happy with the blaster , just waiting on a few upgrades to make that 99%.
