so my wife asked me how I would replace any of the stuff I had in my star wars room if something should happen I told her I had no idea so she suggested adding to our policy so my question would be how do you appraise a custom Boba Fett costume surly it cannot be based on materials alone as time to make some of the armor pieces 100+ man hours

Any one have a guess what all this metal armor would approximate?

For Insurance one thing you can look at are the costs of what people are selling those same items for at the current time. If that info is not available, what would you sell the parts (or entire display) for?
Insurance Companies would want you to be somewhat reasonable on the numbers.
For your hand forged metal: Cost of Materials, Man Hours using an hourly rate, wear and tear on tools/equipment, etc.
Some insurance companies have specific requirements as far as actually having an appraisal when you have a collectible valued over a certain amount.
I'd talk to your agent.

What he said. Talk to your agent show him what you have show him what others are selling similar sets for and explain to him that you hand shaped each peice of metal while others usually use resin or plastics

For an average Fett costume, I would say replacement value is $4,500 for a complete Fett + $650 for soft parts and $200 for boots. This comes to around $5,350. You can find complete Fetts for about that much or less here, but chances are, you will need to replace the flight suit, flak vest, and boots as these are custom made.

Your suit is a little different in that you have used all aluminum parts. It can't be realistically replaced.
