Hi everyone. It's been a long time since I visited and longer since I posted, but I'm back to browsing threads and tinkering on my never ending PreProduction 2 Fett.
Anyway,
My sister-in-law asked if I could repaint my nephew's Hasbro toy blaster and make it look more realistic. Well, I was glad to have an excuse to paint and get into my Fett mindset again.
The first thing to do was to sand off the black decal on the stock. After that I filled in some of the screw holes, seams and gaps with bondo. Follow that up with primer, a base coat of Tamiya battleship gray, dry-brush the high spots with silver, add a few rust streaks and do a wash made of glass cleaner and gunmetal over the entire blaster.
Here's my nephew and my sister-in-law at Dragon Con

Here's a link to my Picasa Web album on the repaint.

Please let me know if the link doesn't work and I'll fix it.
I hope you all enjoy the pics.
I thought about using the toy blaster as a base for an adult sized one, but the scale was just not right. If anyone has suggestions on scratch-building an ROTJ blaster, please share.
