I did the ferric acid bath on the Webley parts today. I had an Initial mishap of forgetting the first bath is a 20 to 1 water/ acid ratio. I just threw the parts in the pure acid bath and 30 seconds later it dawned to me and I frantically removed the parts from the bath. My garage floor has some new nifty stains. Luckily I think the ending results turned out well despite my mistake. I’m very pleased with how the barrel looks. The other parts I had more issues removing the anodization from so I don’t think they look great on the edges, but any leftover anodization at this point I’m just going to sand off during assembly and apply aluminum black to those areas. All the important surfaces look good to me. Next is light application of aluminum black to the parts and finishing with the beeswax/ boiled linseed oil.
