Hey all!

So it's time. I've been around the site for a couple years, watching, learning, asking questions, and now I see my Fett coming to an end soon. I'm not very talented when it comes to crafting and painting, so I've commissioned pretty much everything. I won't be able to say "I made it myself", but I'll know I have some of the best stuff out there and I feel that's a good trade off :) Plus, I'm sure others are in the same boat as me, so if nothing else, this could be a helpful shopping list.

So first and foremost, the helmet. I commissioned DAZ(bobamaker) to make the majority of my suit. Helmet, armor, jetpack, and most of the soft props. I can't recommend his stuff enough. Everything is top notch. If you're in the same boat as me (lack painting skills or don't have the time) he's definitely worth your consideration. He has a long wait time, but definitely worth it in the end.
As for the inside of the helmet, I found some helmet lining on ebay and customized it a bit and got it to fit quite nicely.

Next up is the jetpack and harness. The jetpack has an access door on the other side, making it easy to place/remove the 9V battery for the beacon and to attach the harness. Still unsure how the harness attaches specifically, so if anyone out there has the same harness, some tips would be much appreciated!

More armor from DAZ. This guy is amazing.

All of the soft props from DAZ. All weathered and ready to go.

Here's my fancy ammo belt made by BobaFiend. He did an amazing job. Extremely happy with how it turned out.

Fettronics chest lights with Rafalfett's 13 step sequence. Perfect.

ESB cape, girth belt and wookie braids (real horse hair) made by Woody. Makes great stuff and has a good turnaround time.

I was able to get a real nemrod holster from chris(fettpride). I'll post pics of that soon.

And there we have it! I still have some items missing, but should have everything in the next couple months. The remaining items I need to get are:

Shin tools
Boots
US Divers belt buckle
EE3 Blaster
Sidearm

And of course a mannequin to display this beauty on!

Did a little Sunday project yesterday. I finally used my RF kit from salamanderking. Getting all that to fit was a bit challenging, but I got it working.

What do you think of that helmet liner? It's from Fenix Props right? I saw that on Ebay but was staying away. Is it pretty warm? My rocketeer liner is similar and it has zero ventilation.

Very nice!

Thanks!

Yep its from fenix props. I really like it. I've never worn it longer than 5 minutes at a time, so I'm not sure if its overly warm, but its definitely comfy and looks nice :) Just like any helmet, I'd imagine they get pretty steamy without ventilation. If I ever take it to a con I think I'll add some fans in there.

Another update.

Real Nemrod holster. I'm pretty sure it was used for its original purpose and had some salt water stains all over it. Cleaners weren't doing the trick so I lightly sanded off the stains and painted. Unfortunately it reeks of cigarette smoke. Anybody have any tips for getting rid of the smell?

Also weathered the cape. I think I may have gone a little overboard...

Looks good, man! Overboard on weathering? Bah ;) Get it out in the sunlight and it will look completely different.

As for the smell, I bought some riding boots unknowingly from a smoker's home...tried a bunch of things, but that stuff is powerful. When you clean it, it's fine for a while, but sometimes the smell comes back.

I've tried white vinegar (which really just trades one crappy smell for another, but it did the trick). After, wash it with an all-purpose detergent. Lastly, you may need to repaint it (inside and out) to finally get rid of it.

Hope that helps :)

Pretty big update here. I got my mannequin and he's got most of the fett gear on. Missing the jetpack, cape and boots.

The out of the box pose is pretty terrible imo. I hate how the arms hang there. Though, I knew this when i got the mannequin. I'll have to make my own arms. The picture below is my end goal. I want it be posed and look as close to the picture on the right as possible. It looks like I need to take an inch or so off the bottom of the flak vest. Also, is it just me or does the flak vest need to be more of a light gray rather than white? Its weathered, but I'm not liking the contrast between it and the flight suit.

Whataya guys think?

Really beautiful, it does a very good job, you have to pay the price but the result is great.
The color of the armor is too dark in real than in the pictures?

I also have bobamaker gauntlets, but they are very wide, how did you do to keep them in place?

The flak vest is a light grey in colour. Maybe take some photos in daylight to get a better idea of the colour. The interior lighting is creating most of the contrast.
