Boba fett jet pack scratch build

Hihi! This is my first post but been a member for a long time.

Always wanted to start putting together a boba costume and i recently bought a helmet kit so i decided to start trying to make the Jet Pack first

I made everything by eye and a couple of measurements i found on here so a lot of things are inaccurate but i think it’ll be enough for me for now :)

i started with foam core and made the basic form, i bought 3 cardboard tubes that ended up being to small so i had to make the larger tube out of 3mm cardboard sheet covered with foam.

The tiny cubes are made out of foam, i should make it out of wood or something because they are looking ragged and uneven. Also my measurement must be a bit off because they should be 11 each side but i only fit 9 of them.

Anyways here are some pictures after 3 evenings of work, I’ll post more pictures of my progress once i get more work done and if anyone is interested in following the progress.

Credit where credit is due. That's a great start and making it all by hand. I think wizard of flight made some templates which you could print of and use if your getting stuck on the smaller details. Was it hard to do?

Thank you! Not so hard i would say but it has definitely been quite a thought process without templates, doing the cone shapes on the rocket has been by far the most difficult part so far.... In hindsight i maybe should have just used Wizard of flights templates  But it's been really fun trying to figure it out on my own and i can't wait to see it finished.

Small update... I don’t know how many hours i have put in to this project so far but i’m starting to feel like it’s endless i have started to notice that my choice of material is not the best (foam core) which makes sanding completely smooth almost impossible, but i’m hoping filler primer will help with some of that. Craft stores here in iceland don’t carry sintra nor EVA foam, getting those materials is quite expensive through a specialty store so i had to settle with foam core. Anyway it’s starting to look much better now and i can almost see the end of the build process, i have to shape the wooden rod detail and that’s it for the build then it’s just filling and sanding until I’m happy and the paint :)..... It’s a bit “rough around the edges” but star wars is a used universe so I’m fine with that.

i painted some of the small details temporarily just to get some small sense of completion so i wouldn’t go insane haha.
