Armor plate fastening

This may seem like a dumb question, i'm new to the community, but is there a generally agreed upon way to fasten armor plating to a flightsuit? And is there perhaps a guide already out there? I'm currently building an ESB boba fett.

It actually attaches to a vest - not the flightsuit - and it does so via bolts attached the armour that pass through brass grommets. You could also use Velcro.
