Anovos Mandalorian Helmet

I recieved my Mandalorian Helmet and I am less then thrilled about it for several reason. I wont tip toe around it, but this is how I feel about this piece. The paint job out of the box looks nothing like it does on screen. It is much darker than you expect, especially compared to the promotional images from Anovos. The paint job reminds me of a truck painted gunmetal with a glossy coat to give it that mirror shine. But in this case Anovos went really heavy on the gloss. The paint, depending how the light hits it gives a blueish hue. Based on this paint job and lack of metal reflective elements, I question if they even used a Alumaluster or just not enough of it for this piece.

Within that thick layer of gloss are several dust particles or poor paint application spattler trapped under the clear coat. In an area on on the lower cheek, the layer of gloss was thick enough that it pooled and dried on the bottom. The helmet actually has some very minor micro scratches, similiar to when you wax or dry your car with a dirty/rough towel and then need to do some serious buffing to get it out. The weathering is a 5/10 at best with not much effort put in it. A decal on the ear instead of taking the time to paint it on. Lastly, the visor is simply attached using glue which looks sloppy upon closer inspection.

Overall, as a Star Wars Fan, I dig the helmet, it does look cool to the average fan. But as a Prop Collector, I know this helmet misses and for the price tag, it is disappointing. Almost or it will do, does not cut it for a Helmet that is soon to become Iconic.

I did take a few high res, shots to share. Under a flash conditions, you do get more of that metallic reflective element that is missing under normal light conditions.

When I look back at the image I took at D23, I can honestly say Anovos did not hit the mark with the paint.

Please share your thought, especially if you recieved your Anovos Mandalorian Helmet.

Even though with the shipping delay (that I'm assuming is happening) Im glad I ordered the EXF helmet. Something doesn't look quite right about the shape of the anovos ones and the paint is not great from any that I have seen in hand. Also not sure why they did a double visor. Really hoping EXF doesn't disappoint.

Very helpful pictures, thank you! Just confirmed interest for the Helmet the other day, now im sure I'd rather not drop that cash on this one from anovos.

looks like they have tried to get a rusty effect. when its not even on the original helmet. have you thought about re painting it ?

Received mine the other day as well, really baffled by the double visor decision. My paint job looks ever so slightly different when it comes to the silver, not sure if it was an application difference. One thing I was not a fan of was how they secured the outer visor, I've got what looks like a bead of hot glue just tucked into the mandible, plan to clean that up. Overall it's really comfortable and fits me perfectly, more worried about whether or not I'll be able to use it though when it comes to matching a full Beskar set. Regardless I'm pretty happy with the construction, still hoping to pair it with a full set of armor.

No I am not going to repaint it. I will leave it as it, so if I decided to sell it, it is in its original condidtion.

Mine rests on the tip on my nose when I wear it. I don't have a particularly large head (7 1/4 baseball hat) and I didn't think that my nose was that big, but apparently so. I'm going to use the enclosed padding to see if I can put it by my forehead to move it back further.

I ended up using the two oval one's as cheek rests, keeps the helmet on my head perfectly and nose away from the visor.

I also received an Anovos Mandalorian helmet looking exactly as dark as Tfett40's, with the visor all scratched and the helmet full of white speckles in the coating.
I contacted Anovos about this and provided them with pictures.
They approved for a replacement and after several weeks of emailing back and forth I finally received the new helmet two days ago.
It seems that they have somewhat revised it this time around.
The color is more accurate and the "rangefinder bases" on each side sits more straight and fit compared to the "faulty" one.
Also the black stripe on the rangefinder bases is painted now, compared to just a decal on the old one.
The weathering is also a bit better than the previous one.

So, is the Anovos helmet as bad as what some are saying? As I was really tempted to order it for my upcoming cosplay as (besides from their weird business decisions and how they treat their customers when it comes to refunds etc), I’ve always found the products that I have of theirs to be really good.
Who’s doing the best Mandalorian helmet at present?

From what I’ve read on here and elsewhere, YMMV with the Anovos helmet...that being said, I’d say the jury is out until EFX ships theirs. I’m banking on EFX nailing it, but we shall see. If I were you, and you have the patience to wait, I’d see how the EFX compares before making a $600 decision - IMHO
