Your chest display draws too little power, so the battery switches off. It thinks the “phone” is done charging, so the battery goes to sleep. I get around this by using high brightness displays. So the chest display draws at least 100mA, keeping the battery from sleeping.

My range finder circuit fits Bobamakers deluxe rangefinder. By my caliper, Bobamakers' LED holes are <1mm of my circuit's LED placement.
Is a good fit.
