My live-action version of the 1979 Kenner Boba Fett action figure helmet is FINISHED! Here are the final project photos as well as my early sketches and my actual 1979 figure--which inspired the "damage patterns" you see on the final... (Photodump...) This started out as a LoneWolfCustoms BF.

Final project photos of my 2023 Empire Strikes Back Boba Fett helmet! I haven't done an ESB in about a decade, so go easy on me! This was about 5 months of work (weather permitting--I don't have an indoor spray area). I free-handed all the damage based on screen grabs and RafalFett's diagrams...

Being that he's only appeared in one episode (and in the dark for much of it), there isn't much reference for poor Axe (and his helmet in particular). Here's what I've found so far. Mostly from Mando S2E3. Please feel free to add anything you've got.

I do clear coat, but if you're only painting latex in the spots you want to peel off, there should be no further peeling at the edges.

It's for display, You only put the latex on the areas you want to peel off, not the whole helmet.

Hi, folks! This summer, after 12 years of not painting a Boba helmet, I decided to order a Bobamaker kit and replace my old, janky helmet. This was done 100% with Rustoleum rattle cans and Testor's enamel. All the damage was created via the liquid latex peel-off process. I'm pretty happy...

I usually rely on rattle cans, but this was a mix of some enamels I had on hand. A rust red and sort of a pale orange. Custom mix. I dulled it down with more rust color. Everyone's kill stripes for re-armored boba seem to be a brighter orange than the actual helmet seems to be, so I toned it...

It's the shape of the new helmet that bugs me. The paint is fine, the soft parts are fine... the step in the range finder stalk is fine, I guess...but...that helmet sculpt is just too tall...the t-opening has changed... Some of this could be the camera lense, but... meh.

Finishing Mando S2 Boba Fett today. Vinyl accents are finished. I’m adding final grime with Testors paints. I lightly brush on the thinned paint, then dab it with paper towels to create a convincing layer of dirt. Pretty much done. I’ll shoot final project photos soon.
