Hi from a Scotsman in France

McFett

New Hunter
Hi,
I've been lurking here for about a year now, so an introduction seems long overdue. I'm from Edinburgh and live in Strasbourg. As I needed a costume for an event in 2015, I innocently mused that Boba Fett would be cool idea and that led me to TDH.
Since then I've gone through many stages:
Confusion over the different costume variants.
Disillusionment with the enormity of the task in hand.
Apprehension concerning the costs involved.
Enthusiasm about learning new skills (fibreglassing, leatherwork, dying, sewing, airbrushing, weathering, cobbling, electoplating, soldering, etc...)
Awe before the obsession for detail, the enthusiasm, and the amazing work that so many put into their scratch builds, research, tutorials, blueprints, etc.
Now, approaching 12 months after my initial whim, the event for which I needed a costume has now passed, but I'm too hooked to stop. I have about 5% of an ESB Fett completed (real life doesn't leave me much free time for this sort of thing). I have an ammo belt based on StrummFett and RafalFett's excellent plans; a Girth Belt dyed using whisle8mp's technique; a quickly thrown-together helmet based on WoF's templates and Antman's tutorial and quite a few other elements in progress.
I no longer have a deadline, so I intend to privilege quality over rapidity and keep going with a scratch build, (making it is half the fun).
Finally, I'd just like to send out a huge thanks to everyone involved in providing such a rich resource,
Cheers,
McFett.
