Mandalorian Merc BUCKET Bucket Build

MilenkoFett

New Hunter
Well it should say Mandalorian Merc Hopeful.... And so it begins. This will be my first attempt at costume building. I decided to go for a custom Modern Era Mandalorian based on Rafal Works template for Boba Fett. I decided to use the bucket method.

The buckets that I'm using are sturdier than Home Depot or Lowes buckets, but slightly less rigid that a standard 5 gallon paint bucket.

Step two:
Transfered the inner bucket templates as one long template to the bucket. I don't have a dremel yet, so hand tools for cutting.
Tools I used so far:
Hand saw, to cut roughly 2 inches around template.
Utility knife, to score CAREFULLY along the template outline.
Crafting heavy duty scissors, to cut perpendicular lines up to scoring line... creating smaller squares that will snap right out.
Hot glue, to glue tabs from bucket scraps to hold the back closed. (temporarily)

I am undecided on the hard hat. I may just use the dome templates... we'll see.

Today I found an old square cat litter bucket, perfect for cutting the cheeks and mandibles. Next step was to sand off the printing. Otherwise, the apoxy will peel off easily. And then I traced out the outer template on bucket #2. Ready to cut it out.

So today I cut out 90% of the outer layer, still need to cut out the visor slot on both buckets and the cheek area on the base bucket. I test fit it to see how it looks so far... The cheek parts are formed and ready. I also cut out the main parts to the rear key slot... I scored the slots to make it easier tomorrow.

Not bad for using a utility razor and scissors. Hahaha

I decided against the hard hat this time around. I used the dome template on a cereal box. I will use fiber glass and resin to give it strength. So off to the hardware store for bondo, fiber glass, and resin. I still have to cut out the visor slot and cheeks. If anyone wants to donate some earcaps and rf... I won't get mad. Hahaha.
