Hello everyone,
My name is Brad, and I've been a community member for a while now, so I come to my fellow Jedi with a heavy heart. My little brother Ryan is also a community member and he spends a lot of time with you all because he's become disabled and can't leave the house much. Ryan used to be such a happy and outgoing person. He served in the United States Air Force fixing planes for a living, he was a Martial Arts (Aikido) instructor for 10 years, and he has a beautiful wife and 4 little children. About 2 years ago Ryan started having some pain in his legs, and he would lose his balance and fall often. As his condition got worse he and his wife began seeing multiple doctors including Neurologists, Neurosurgeons, and even Physical Therapists. It was finally found, after 2 years of MRIs, EMGs, EKGs, tons of blood work, and even a Spinal Tap that he suffers from a condition called Complex Regional Pain Syndrome and Peripheral Neuropathy. What this means is that the nerve endings in his legs (the ones that transmit to the pain centers in the brain) don't shut off, so he is in agonizing pain all the time. It also causes him to fall quite frequently because those same nerve endings will go into overdrive and temporarily shut off causing him to be paralyzed from the waist down until they "turn back on." Because of this Ryan is no longer able to work because no employer would be okay with him not being there anytime his legs wouldn't cooperate or function at all. He's not getting Social Security Disability, but with 4 kids it's just not enough. So he did what any good father and husband would do to take care of his wife and kids, he started selling off his Star Wars collection. Now I'm sure you know as well as I do that selling your collection on eBay, you won't get nearly what you paid for it, and he had a lot. Besides his 6' Black Series collection, his bin of 3.75' figures, vehicles, playsets, replicas, and even custom playsets that he built.
He sold all of this so he could pay for the mounting medical bills, and still take care of his family because the SS Disability is basically nothing. It breaks my heart to see him having to do this because he's one of the best people I know. Even though he's my little brother, he always looked out for me as if he was my older brother. He's a wonderful husband and father, and he used to actually get down and play Star Wars Figures with his little kids. Now they just keep asking him where his Star Wars guys are and if they can play guys again. It breaks my heart to see because he loves his kids so much, and he's one person that doesn't deserve this condition. He's already so limited so much with what he can and can't do, now this condition has taken away one of the few things that really bring him joy during all of this.
I'm asking or looking to see if any of you have any extra figures 3.75' or 6' that you could spare or part with. I really want to show him that he's not alone, there is still plenty to be happy about, and there are still good people that care in this galaxy. Please get a hold of me if you think you can help.
Thank you,
Brad Chrzanowski
