Issues with DVH products? LET ME KNOW!

So... ive been informed that some folks are having issues with my helmet kits. Complaining they need too much clean up n such. Well, i know they are not perfect, i paint plenty of my own helmets and do the cleanup myself, but i didnt think there was anything about them to make them bad enough to complain to other people about, and not even mention it to me. Pretty much every item i have bought in this hobby needed some sort of clean up..aside from FP stuff which is super clean...but thats what happens when you are doing this for over 15yrs, im a little ways off from THAT much experience!

That said, I always felt i came off as the approachable person i am and that you, the customer, would say something if you had a problem/issue. When i get a message from you saying "helmet received looks great thanks" , and i dont hear from you again, id assume you are happy with the product. If you are not, i need you to tell me! i have zero issue working with you to get any issues you have resolved. I will not get mad or give you attitude. I do this not only for some cash, but also because i like helping people out. I try and go above and beyond for anyone asking any questions about building fett in general and will even help with products i didnt make. Please dont feel you are bothering me! If you have ANY issue please let me know! thanks folks!

Like I told you blue painters tape was ripping sections of paint off this kit you sent for rumrunner....whether that is due to your primer or the resin itself I do not know.... Ive never seen such an issue except when trying to paint a Polypropylene item which was not prepped with bulldog adhesion promoter. 3 different areas of the kit you sent out were like that... masking one area to paint another resulted in repainting a previously painted area. As far as clean up. Ive seen WAY worse from ebay/etsy vendors, and of course like you said we've all seen better from FP who is among the best at mold making and casting.

Yes Dom, thank you for that. Im still not sure what that was about. im doing 2 helmets right now using the blue painters tape and havent had that happen at all. It has happened to me before, but i will admit i was lazy and didnt properly sand/prep it first, which i know you did, so its very odd. the only thing i could think of was i put too much mold release ina couple of spots and it absorbed into the resin...if thats even possible, i have no idea lol. Been using the mold release cuz the mold is getting older. I usually dont use it al all when the molds are new. Did you manage to work it out? Like i had told ya via messenger on FB, i will gladly send a replacement if need be. (y)

Actually you had shipped this to me primered.... which I sanded with 550 before painting with silver... helmets about done....finishing the ears and then installing them and the visor this week.

yea thats right! which means i sanded it before hand. Well my apologies for the hassle. Hopefully if you get to put your awesome paint work on one of my helmets again, this wont happen. Im gonna cut back on the mold release as well, that may be the issue. i have had similar issues with MOW gauntlets and really had to give them a DEEP sanding to get the paint to bite.

Well the only issue I have had with your helmets is the fact I have never had the chance to work on one..............

Maybe when things get sorted with my job situation I will be able to order one and paint it up.

I hope for the same. They look great by pics, but I'd love to get my hands on one one day but I just don't have the budget right now.

lol thank you guys. Well so far aside from Dom with that oddball paint thing, which my guess is still possibly over saturated areas of mold release contaminated the resin, or possibly me missing a couple of spots sanding before i primed it, i havent had anyone post here or contact me about any issues with the casts. Maybe i was misinformed. None the less, i will be doing a V2 version of the helmet and hopefully the issues i KNOW it has will be resolved. Rome wasnt built in a day!

Yea but I got arrested in it because of my awesomeness (true story). If you bump into me at celebration or the bh breakfast I'd be happy to tell it.

I won't be at celebration but I'd love to hear that one lol.

As far as the helmets I haven't had a single issue that's really anything. Had to sand the large ears and ear surfaces on the bucket to make them nice and flat. Some small pinholes on the resin ears ( just so you know. Didn't take me but a little filler and sanding. Just had a little air in the resin) and the small spot touchups but nothing unexpected. I only have the silver down yet and haven't tried any painters tape. (was planning on using the yellow gecko tape I've have lots of good experiences with it) but I did have the tape peeling issue on the rangefinder and stalk. Planning on soaking it in some simple Green after sanding at some point here. But heck even the bottom rim on mine needed no attention beyond a cursory sanding. Nothing but good things to say about @dvh bucket kit!

thank you bro! yea one of the things on the list is to fix the ear platforms, which i think is more of a mold issue. the rubber wasnt completely smooth when i made the jacket/mother/support mold so i think over time its not sitting in there quite right anymore and causing slight waves. Same issue with some parts on the dome. Sometimes i get it to seat very well and there is little to no dome issues sometimes its a little more, but again it shouldnt be anything drastic. If anyone gets one that is THAT bad i will replace it. But again something that will be addressed with the V2 sculpt and mold. thank you again for your reply brother! Get those new ear pieces? much better than the old ones!

Yeah the new upper RF ears are great. Wait that's all there was right. Just the uppers or did you do all of them lol
