I've got some fiberglass armor (I don't remember who I got it from, it was an eBay sale a long time back.

Anyways, after getting it attached to my vest and putting it on, it seems it's a little too "flat". It has some curve to it, but the ends seem to stick out a bit, which, to me, looks a little odd.

I'd like to put a little more curve in the pieces, so that they wrap around my chest more. I've read some people using blow a dryers to heat up their armor to reshape it, will this work with fiberglass? How easy is it to bend, and how likely is it just to return to the original shape?

    Thanks for any input!

Well, the heat method should work with fiberglass armor.
But before you mess with it. . . could it be it's your perception that it's too flat? The curves in the armor plates are pretty subtle.
Can you post pics of your armor?

Well, here are a couple of shots from the side that kinda show what I'm talking about:

I'm just not happy with the way the breast plates stick out.

Yes, you can heat it up with a heat gun & reform it a bit. Have some cold water close by & it will help to curve it if you run the water on the inside of the armor (this will cool faster & shrink quicker drawing the armor in & helping to form that curve). The cold water will also set the shape. I've used this method several times with success. Good luck!

Thanks. That water thing's a great tip, I'll have to give that a try this weekend.

Hopefully my wife's hair dryer will get it hot enough!
