JVR's ROTJ Boba: Armor Updates

Updates as promised. All of the green parts are done (minus the weathering). I want to finish the shoulders and knees, so I can weather everything together for a consistent pattern and hue. I'll be moving onto the shoulders and knees next week.

Here's the finished cod, kidney, and back plates.

This is EASILY my favorite part of painting. Being able to peel away all of the masking to show all of the paint layers is a magical experience everyone should get to enjoy at least once in their lifetime. There's just something super cool about going from that super polished 1-layer product to a beat-up piece of armor.

More to come...

Slowly but surely, still chipping away at the repaint.

Finished the paint up on the shoulder bells. I have a hard time discerning the correct hue on these because they vary so heavily in different lighting conditions. Sometimes they look more orange, and other times they are more yellow. In my photos, mine appear more orange. At any rate, this will be the color for better or worse.

This was before I misted on the orange

Comparison to my old shoulders, which came out WAY too light in photos.

Finished weathering and clearcoating on all of the armor pieces. I still need to do the interior of the cod, kidney plate, and back plate. Hopefully, I'll be onto adding hardware and electronics soon. I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

I've had a ton of fun doing the weathering this go-around. I'm really happy how it has all turned out. It is amazing how much more depth you can get with an airbrush.

Those armor pieces look really great. You mentioned that these ones are a little larger than what you had? Looking forward to seeing the whole costume again.

I reused the backplate, kidney plate, knees, and cod piece.

The chest set, shoulder bells, and collar are all the RKD V3 size I believe. It is hard to see the size difference in the side-by-side shots because these have quite a bit more curve to them.

So I finished up the costume for now. No pictures yet, but I'll be at Celebration this week, so I'm sure I'll have some pictures of the finished product by this weekend.

Also, if you'll be there hopefully we run into each other.

So glad I got to meet a few of you out at SWCO. Some really awesome looking Fetts out there.

Thanks for all the support and help in getting this thing done. I'm really happy with how it turned out. I couldn't have done it without this awesome community of builders.
