This has to be one of the most useful forums I've seen, and it's great to see how active it is! I've had a good look round but I've struggled to find a general guide on making a helmet. I'm not an RPer, but me and my friends make mock-action movies and for this I'll need a Boba Fett helmet, I could get a cheap plastic one but I thought it would be great to make it myself and when it's finished, have a bit of work that I'm proud of! I'm not trying to make an incredibly detailed helmet, I just want it to be recognisable as Boba Fett's helmet. I'm not sure how practical it is, but I'd really love to make it out of metal for that quality feel, I've seen some templates out there designed to be used on cardboard but I don't really know where to start for this project! If someone could point me in the right direction or offer some advice as to how I could make such a thing, I would be very grateful!
After thinking it through in my head, the most obvious way to do it would be to make up the different plates using a template and use body filler for the inclined part by the cheek. Bending the metal properly could be difficult but I'd be able to work something out! The only complication would be the dome at the top of the hemlet, I really don't know how I would go about making that!
Thanks in advance and I look forward to your suggestions!
