I was not satisfied with my first weathering attempt on my flight suit, hard to describe the result but the fabric started looking like denim. So that came off and I brought in the little big gun (it was a good excuse to buy an airbrush, at least that's what I told my wife):
Knocked out the flight suit and boots in very little time and I am much happier with the result:
Last weekend some Garrison friends who are also neighbors of ours helped fit and sew up the harnessing for the jetpack scuba frame. That was an adventure to say the least. But it's done and the jetpack sits nicely against the back armor and doesn't droop backwards, which was the main goal. Did a chest up shot to celebrate.
Now I've been working on little projects/details. Added the toe spikes (still need weathering):
I wanted the rivet look instead of a screw, I had in my research notes that someone on here had used floor trim fasteners (I'm sorry I didn't note your screen name for credit) and they worked perfectly. They've also got some bite. I simply marked where the holes were going to be, predrilled those with a 1/16" bit, dipped the fastener in E6000, added E6000 to the back of the spike plate, put the plates in place, and pushed the fasteners in. Then allowed that to cure. They now seem to be very firmly attached to the front of the boot, but time and troops will tell.
Also, if anyone would like a set of these fasteners to do their own boots, I'm happy to share, this huge pack was the only way I could find them at the time and they weren't expensive. Just shoot me a message!
