New Hunter
A long time ago (somewhere around 2004ish) I posted on this site several times under this same username. Since then, there appears to have been a forum migration and old accounts seem to have been lost. Shame, but expected. I was in about 10 then.
The only reason I ask is because at some point, a nice gentleman sent me (totally free of charge) a DVD case containing vibration motor, and a CD of sound effects. I can't remember why, but It happened.
It was around this point in my life that I was going through a strange "phase." I had gotten stuck in my brain that I wanted to be a filmmaker. And I wasn't going to wait till college, I wanted to do it NOW. And that thrown in free CD of sound effects inspired me like a fire. I wanted to be an audio engineer. It started me building my own library of sound effects ("Just like Ben Burtt!") and got me deeper into my newly found fascination with motion pictures.
Years later, I'm an award-winning filmmaker. My interests changed from audio to visual, I'm a grip on film sets and a freelance cinematographer. And as far as I'm concerned, if I could go back in time and tell myself where I'd be by now, my little head would explode.
There's no way for me to log into such an old account, the wayback machine is no help, so I'm simply asking if any of you remember doing this. This simple gesture of kindness helped spark my imagination and change my life. It helped find my life's goal.
I still have all the original sound effects in my library.
If you are this person, please let me know. I'd love to do what I can to repay you. If you come to Chicago, I'd like to shake your hand.
Thank you all
