i'm not very big either... 5'9" or so, and i usually wear a medium t shirt

It's approx 9 inches wide in the head (ear to ear). On the front, the whole thing is approx 20" high. From shoulder to shoulder (widest part of the whole thing) it's 17". I'm going under the assumption that the wearer (either naturally or due to armour/cloak/etc) will be approx 20" - 22" across the shoulders. There is about 10" clearance, front to back, for your head to get inside.
