The placement/spacing looks great! Maybe move it all down a touch so there's a little more space between the collar and upper chest plates. but the spacing othewrwise... 
I'd tailor it to about 1/2" under the bottom plate.
The wookie braids should be attached on the seam of the shoulder and sleeve of the vest...well on the shoulder but against the seam actually. I had a piece of thin twine to wrap them all togther in one area.. (sort of like rubberbanding a bunch of pencils togther, the twine being the rubber band) ...then i put 2 small holes in the vest ran zip tie through the loop of twine under the braids (so you cant see it) and then through the 2 holes in the vest and "zipped" it on the inside. Hope that made sense lol.
