Preparing for My first bucket build

I'm new to prop making,but I want to make a BF helmet. I want to make it from fiberglass,but I am unsure quite how to go about it. Is it plausible to make a cardboard helmet and then cover it in fiberglass? Or use the cardboard one to make a mold and go that route? Any feedback or tips are welcome.

that's awesome. would I make a "model" helmet then use it to make a plaster old?
