All right, enough with the WAR AND PEACE posts. Back to more practical matters. Like weathering the flight suit.

There's lots of ways to approach this. Everybody has their preference. I prefer to use powders.

Pretty simple. The food grade charcoal bag was a left-over from another unrelated project. Might as well use it for this. I don't plan to eat the flight suit, though it's now an option.

Obviously darker towards the boots and less towards the top, although the hip pouches are darker than the thigh pouches. It's not as precise as replicating paint damage on armor. Sometimes it gets away from you. I like to beat it with the brush to tone it down.

If it's too dark in spots, I can hit it with soap and water or stain remover. Or if it's really severe, put it under running water.

I noticed there is more than just black and grays in the weathering. There is also a very subtle earthy yellow-brown hue in there. Is it bad color reproduction in the photo? Maybe, but I think it will be interesting to add a color on the opposite side of the color wheel to create some depth nonetheless.

you can see it better with exaggerated color:

It's very subtle. Just want to do enough to tone those areas the slightest bit.

bad lighting here, but making sure to keep the 'clean spot' clean:

I have a list of small things I want to do before I allow myself to do the armor. I'll save the most enjoyable and challenging part for last. I temporarily put an EFX helmet on top while I fiddle more with the G2 helmet to get it ready to send out for an expert paintjob by FamousFett.
