Thanks. I think I used the 501st version as a reference and then airbrushed in shades of acrylic burnt umber. I think burnt umber is the most earthish of the earth tones. I also misted it a bit before and after so it would kind of blend and in areas where it was too much or not enough I’d rub it with my fingers.
 
Actually I think it was beige for the pinkish and burnt umber for the browns. My thinking is most of the dirt and grime would be on the lower areas and areas that get touched the most like pocket flaps. I tried to avoid using black but brown just wasn’t dark enough. Use sparingly if you paint your own!
