While so many were speaking on Bowie's passing, figured it was a good time to post these. For those that have seen Labyrinth, this was the puppet that was named "Hoggle".
Years ago he wound up in unclaimed baggage after shipping to be stored. After being lost, and never claimed, he moved on to a company that runs "Unclaimed Baggage Center". They realized there was some coolness factor in the puppet, and had a professional restore him to a presentable state. The original material was made to be manipulated for talking and expressions/movements, and was very fragile. Repairs had to be made daily, so the materials used on this repair left him unable to move, but at least looking in good enough shape to display.

This is located in Scotsboro Alabama. Trust me....not something to take a pilgrimage for, but if somehow you wind up lost as hell in northern Alabama, it's at least a neat novelty.
 
Well, no doll expert for sure, just found it neat. I definitely keep no record of "best and worst"doll restorations, as to who probably gives a crap.
At least I could recognize who and what it was from by viewing it. In the inset pictures accompanying the display are views of the condition of it prior to this. If you think it looks bad now, you should've seen it then.
 
Oh yeah. No doubt it was a mess. But words like "restoration" and "professional" just don't fly with what was done. They literally ripped off what was left of his face and sculpted a new one that isn't even close.
Sorry, I didn't mean to put down your thread. But that thing is a sore subject for some including me.
 
Ain't no thing man....surely nothing too important like some good Boba artifacts or relics.
Really just was the type of thing I'd not expect to see in Alabama.

Yeah no kidding!
Things turn up in places you least expect sometimes.
Like when I went to a museum in Seattle and they had the Goblin King costume and some other things.
 
It never looked like a thread bash but the restoration, such as it is, is not easy to apprecite. Shame.
Admittedly the source was hammered so any restoration would always have been flawed.
