My ESB Boba Fett helmet paint job

Interesting choice of the AS32 to start with. I'd have never thought of that. Going from Spruce and lightening it up a bit with the 25 totally makes sense to me though. I learned about "color distancing" in art college, and it really had an impact on how I view or decide what colors to use when...

My ESB Boba Fett helmet paint job

Awesome! Love the green color! What approximation color green did you arrive at? Or, what was your base and started from there?

Re-buildng/painting a Don Post Deluxe Boba Fett helmet

I had to repaint/restore my '95 Fett after a break happened, and I tell ya, they kind of clean up well for what they are! : ) Although I repainted it in the spirit of the original '95 style.

Re-buildng/painting a Don Post Deluxe Boba Fett helmet

How do you get the mask out liquid completely off after it's been layered and painted over multiple times, w/o effing up the final paint around it and really scraping it off and flaking it? I tried before and the mask liquid is almost indistinguishable from the surrounding paint to me sometimes...

My ESB Boba Fett helmet paint job

The flash is dulling and lightening the color, unfortunately. My eyes think the Grey color you mention doesn't have enough of a slight green to it. Tamiya's Field Grey is still IMHO, closer.

My ESB Boba Fett helmet paint job

I know a lot of people have mentioned that color, and I am actually interested in seeing it. I don't know if I've seen anyone's Fett's knowing they used that color. I like the color. I personally like Tamiya's Field Gray, but that's the thing ,even the current Spec Ed Fett helmet prop, used...

My ESB Boba Fett helmet paint job

I did change the visor. Got it from T-Visor.com It was already pre-bent, but I warmed it up a bit with a hair dryer, just to make it a bit easier to work with , since I had to dremmel it a lot to get the outside edges to match up with the inside of the helmet plates and screw holes.

Re-buildng/painting a Don Post Deluxe Boba Fett helmet

Ah, yes...yes it was. That's what I loved about it. lol I mean, I like an accurate paint job, but the DP just had some love from me for what it was when it came out. We had nothing that good then, and it was leaps and bounds above anything else at the time. Memories I suppose! Still , looking...

Re-buildng/painting a Don Post Deluxe Boba Fett helmet

I HAVE a Don Post Deluxe, but it's in fantastic condition! All I had to do was carefully tighten the bolt for the range finder through the inside fabric, so not to tear it. My repair job was on my Don Post Std vinyl helmet...

    eFX PCR ANH Vader facelift

The black wash was also done sparingly on the face as well, just fyi. And thx, on the faux fiberglass. It was better than just leaving it plastic looking, no? lol I'll definitely be interested to see your progress! : )

    eFX PCR ANH Vader facelift

I forgot to add in my text, I finished the surface of the helmet with Tamiya's "Black Panel Line Accent Color" fluid, as a "black wash" over the helmet. I would recommend checking for videos how to do black washing with stuff like that, if you don't already know how. It's kind of tricky stuff...

    eFX PCR ANH Vader facelift

Thanks! I use Tamiya acrylic paints, exclusively. So, I used their Semi Gloss Black, for all the blacks ( part # X-18) and their standard Gun Metal ( part # X-10 ). All the scratches and dings/metal weathering, were done with Flat Aluminum ( part # XF-16 ). I hand painted everything....no air...

eFX metal Boba Fett ears - stripping the paint?

I am thinking about getting another eFX ESB Fett, and ROTJ it, which, requires bare metal ears. : ) My Hasbro ROTJ job is nice enough, but I know things could be better on a better helm, and I don't need right now to spend more than the cost of another eFX to get it done.
