VALUE of Don Post Deluxe Boba Fett helmet (Slightly desperate)

You could bring it to a pawn shop, and get a loan on it, instead of having to sell it outright. You wouldn't get as much for it, but you'd at least have the possibility of getting it back. I had to do that with my bike once because a room mate shafted me on rent.

    Fiberglassing a helmet

Yeah. sand the inside of the helmet first, give it a good cleaning, and then fiberglass outside in the shade. The fiberglass resin sold by 3M, is pretty ****** though. Especially when it comes to measuring out the catalyst. I think it calls for 12drops of catalyst to every 30ml of resin. But...

Stripping an asok helmet to re-do the paint job

I see what you did there hahaha! Didn't realize this thread was over a year old.

Stripping an asok helmet to re-do the paint job

I've had good luck stripping paint with easy off oven cleaner. Just let it soak on there for hours, and don't let it dry on there.

    General Rotj fett wip

So far so good man! You should post more pictures of the individual items so we can see the details a bit better.

    Masking fluid

The food coloring doesn't stain your paint at all? What color do you tint it?

    Masking fluid

Exactly. It's all user preference really. I honestly haven't used the humbrol stuff, just the winsor and newton fluid and I WISHED I had the humbrol. Especially when it came to masking silver.

    Masking fluid

I'm not saying its not useable. Just saying the humbrol is easier to see, especially for a beginner. If I had as many helmets under my belt as you do, I'd be more comfortable using the W/N masking fluid. ;)

    Masking fluid

Humbrol maskol is what you want. Just do yourself a favor and grab some off ebay. Where local hobby shops are getting harder and harder to find, and they don't all carry a full line of humbrol products. Your best bet would be to make one large online purchase of all the colors you'll need...

    First try at trashcan armor

Oh yeah, sand it and clean it for sure. Use something like superclean, or purple power cleaners, they're both the same thing, and fairly cheap. They should do a good job getting any residue off the armor. Also, try not to handle your parts without gloves. I've seen a lot of people go and spend a...

    First try at trashcan armor

I've heard of some people having issues getting their paint to stick to trash can armor. I guess it flakes off easily due to the flexibility of the material. I would recommend using an adhesion promoter before shooting a layer of primer. It might be overkill, but it certainly won't hurt any...

    ROTJ Undersuit

Definitely go above him. His argument has been nothing but petty. It definitely seems that he just doesn't want to be shown up. Your ROTJ is the best I've seen, there's no reason that there should've even been a discussion on it. I've seen some pretty terrible Fett's in the 501st. So not only am...

    new to building

Here's the links to two different sets. But for future reference, look a little bit before making a thread asking for things. Both of these threads are on the first page of the helmet forum, all you had to do was scroll down and read thread titles...

    Primer on Resin

Try sanding the paint off of the affected areas. hit it with a hair drier for a little bit, maybe you can cook it out of it with that. I wouldn't use a heat gun on it as a heat gun gets hot enough to blister the resin. If that doesn't work, try the baby powder trick. Of course, clean the areas...

    Primer on Resin

Couple questions. When you say your paint is still wet, is it just in the primered stage? or did you already paint all the other layers? In other words, is it just the paint that isn't dry? Or is it the primer too? Did you wash the helmet thoroughly before priming? it could be that some mold...
