    General My Boba Fett Build

Hi Blur You could look at my two threads ,The Builder ESB Build or Builders ESB Bucket. At the time I used Humbrol paints but there might be some tips you can use on your build no matter your paint choice. Doing it yourself on a Boba helmet will give you skills to paint any SW character in...

How to attach the V on shin piece

This is the way I worked the shin piece out with magnets. As you can see when snapped together the magnets are offset on the center line of the halves to keep the halves alined. The v is screwed to the top edge of the front strip. Then that strip is screwed to one of the halves. When the ankle...

How did you connect the gauntlet halves?

Check my thread The Builder ESB Build, I use magnets with soft Velcro hinge straps inside and the gantlets are flush on the edges. I also use an interior wrist strap to stabilize them on my arms. This has worked very well on the different costumes we have made.

    Alumaluster Paint Tips

You're correct about the cost, around $30 a can. All you can do is prepare for as many costume pieces as possible to be ready for each of the clear coat applications. You will use 2-3 cans for sure. I think the Alumaluster cost was $150 -$200 for all of our armor, two helmets, part of his...

    Alumaluster help.

I know this will sound a little counterproductive but it was great advice from Mr. Mold Maker at RPF. After your substrate is ready for paint spray first with Duplicolor black sandable primer ( yes flat black). The 2K clear will adhere and turn it a beautiful gloss black. Let dry. Then add the...

    Advice with Orange Peel

Hi Starsaber Just a few thoughts on your problem. I have airbrushed some acrylic, using water as thinner, oil paint, using odorless terpenoid as thinner, and enamel paint, with it's thinner, and never had orange peel happen. I do not try to get full coverage of color with less than 4 layers of...

    Visor installation?

Sorry for getting back to you this late johkic. I pattern the visor by first cutting a light weight piece of cardboard to the general "T" shape you need. Tape it inside the helmet and then from the outside draw a line onto the cardboard that follows the visor opening. This will pick up any lack...

    Alumaluster Paint Tips

I've had Alumaluster rub off and I try not to touch it at all. I think it has very little to bond to on top of the smooth 2K layer so the delicate nature of it just shows that you are doing a good smooth job. Any liquid has a hard time sticking to a smooth surface. In the end that's why the job...

    Alumaluster Paint Tips

Having recently completed a S2 Mandelorian build I thought that my choice and process using Alumaluster may be worth a comment or two. My own feeling is that his armor does not look like chrome. It should have a deeper heaver metallic look. Any metal finish has to start with a flawless smooth...
