I added a space for a voice changer, a mount for a battery and a slot for a small speaker. The slots for the helmet harness are pieces of the original construction helmet that where cut out and stuck on the inside, with a lot of measuring, glueing, pulling apart, measuring, re-glueing, glueing my hair to the helmet harness, just to get it fitting perfectly.

I did some reinforcing with foamex and epoxy putty (awesome stuff!) and went with a construction helmet inner.
I built up the inner mandibles with epoxy putty and countersunk some 4mm nuts in the putty for the visor.
After building and reinforcing the inside I added a coat of white plastic primer. Was tempted to leave it white...:)
