Oh, yeah...

I got so caught up in asking questions and such that I forgot to officially introduce myself. Hi! My name's Joseph (surprise surprise), and I hail from a small town in the middle of the cornfields of central Illinois. If there's a bright center of the universe, I'm in the city that it's farthest from. (Okay, not quite that bad, but I couldn't resist...)

Anyway, probably the one thing that sets me apart from your average would-be Fett is that I'm blind. I probably should've made my user name "BlindFett" just to keep things straightforward... Oh, well. Opportunity missed. Boba Fett was my favorite character since before I can even remember, and back before I lost my vision (which really happened toward the end of high school/start of college) I bought a set of armor and decided I was going to make a Fett costume. That project fell by the wayside, and now I'm finally pursuing it again. In some ways, building the costume is going to be my way of enjoying the "look" of Boba Fett again - something I can no longer do visually, but look forward to experiencing first-hand.

Now, obviously, being blind presents some unique challenges when it comes to costuming; fortunately I've been blessed with a wonderful wife who will be helping me along the way (and will hopefully be working on her own Mara Jade costume at the same time). But there will probably be plenty of times that I'm either impatient, just plain curious, or don't want to bother her, and may ask questions of you all that seem absolutely absurd because anyone could answer them from a quick glance at the reference photos. When that happens, just remember that I'm going off of my memory of the character, any written descriptions I can find, and tactile impressions from anything I can get my hands on. So I guess what I want to say is: thank you all in advance for being patient with me.

Okay, that's about it. Stay away from Sarlaccs, people.

Welcome! It sounds like you're going to be facing a lot of extra challenges for sure. The community here is extremely helpful. You can rely on them. Good luck with your build.

Welcome to the TDH! Much respect for not losing the dream and ambition when you lost your sight. You will find lots of help here when ya need it! Good luck and have fun with the build!

wow trying to accomplish a boba fett build blind will be challenging, I wish you the best of luck and much respect! and welcome to TDH.

Thanks, all. Truth is, if I hadn't found TDH, I'd never have even dreamed of attempting it. There's just no way. But between the help of loved ones, particularly my wife, and the incredible wealth of information here, I'm hopeful. I won't be going for an extremely high degree of screen accuracy - if I can't qualify for membership in the 501st or whatnot, it won't ruin my life. I just want to be able to put on a fully-fleshed-out, reasonably accurate Boba Fett costume that will look as good as the real thing to an average passer by, and will make me feel awesome when I wear it. I think it can be done. Waiting on my flight suit and vest, and then the fun begins, and I'll keep you all posted on my progress.

Greetings from the Chicago suburbs Joseph! Best of luck with your build.....I'm sure you already know that everything you'll need is in these pages....along with a bunch of cool people to help you along the way.
