How you package your Fett helmet for shipping purposes

Hey everyone!

Not to be dumb, but I was wondering how exactly everybody (sellers and customers alike) have sent/found their helmets packaged, so as to best prevent shipping accidents. Mainly I'm trying to figure out how to best package helmets safely in the most economic way possible. Obviously shipping helmets as kits is quite different (especially the rangefinder) from a completed helmet, so if anyone has any experience with either that would be great!

12x12x12 double coregated box,I like to always wrap my helmet first in a plastic bag large enough, then line the bottom with packing peanuts or good thick bubble wrap, then I turn the helmet upside down and place in the middle of the box usually wrapped in bubble wrap, all helmet components I bubble wrap and place in plastic zip lock bags and place in the helmet as its facing upside down..then fill the 4 corners of the box with lots of peanuts or bubble wrap all the way to the top, then I slice a piece of cardboard and lay across top then close the flaps on top of the box and tape using 3 inch wide packing tape.....I always ship usps 2-3 day priority mail with extra insurance but the tracking can be spotty...

yea what Starchild said is about right :)

I use standard 12X12X12 boxes, i put a couple of layers of bubble wrap on the bottom, sometimes with some peanuts and/or newspaper/packing paper depending what i have on hand. i then wrap the helmet with a layer of packing paper and then roll it in a few layers of bubble wrap in both directions. (i put the ears, RF parts etc in a ziplock bag wrapped in bubble wrap into the helmet and fill it with packing material) then i put it top down in the box and fill the corners with newspaper or peanuts, or packing paper..again whichever i have on hand. then i cover the top with a couple of layers of bubble wrap and some paper/nwespaper or peanuts. Havent had an issue yet! :)

I pack completed helmets the same way and leave the rangefinder unattached and indside the helmet wrapped in bubble wrap with the entire inside of the helmet filled with peanuts , newspaper or packing paper to prevent any damage during shipping.

the guy I bought it from put it in a worthestershier sauce box with peanuts( uk to Singapore), the sides of the T were cracked, back panel in pieces, so I would recommend not just peanuts... took about 6 hours to fix everything...

Agree with pretty much everything above. Peanuts and bubble wrap. . . as much as will fit in the box.
If the box is larger than 12x12x12, shipping goes up considerably.
I also wrap the helmet in a layer of quality paper towels before packing just so no styrofoam or plastic
makes contact with it. I've received stuff before that was wrapped in bubble wrap and had faint bubble
impressions on the surface. Heat can do this, or wrapping the item before the paint has fully flashed out.

YES! this is why i wrap mine with brown paper or something similar as well. I also had that kind of thing happen, and ever since, ive been sure to wrap something paper-like around the helmets before the bubble wrap!

I use diaper boxes...but I am cheap. To be fair its for my personal use though (aka how I store it in my crate). I refuse to release the brand of diaper boxes I am using for liability/trademark reasons.

Sorry this is off topic, just trying to get a laugh out of some folks.

Well diaper boxes seem pretty sturdy, and its great you found another use for them, recycling n all, but i mean how do the diapers fit under the jumpsuit? Do they make it tight in the groin? Boy, I hope they work well too...wouldn't wanna stain a $200 jumpsuit!

:p:p:D:p
