UK Firearms regulations - EE3 costume prop.

Has anyone got clarification on what I would have to do to my scratch-built EE3, once it is done, to make it legal to be carried on my person, whilst in costume, in public?

I am aware that parts have to be painted bright colours (choosing green with a red blocked muzzle and orange cap, so it is keeping whilst, hopefully, being legal.)

Can anyone help?

I am also aware that 'threatening behaviour' with said prop, no matter how fabulously coloured, is a major nono.

Any help appreciated

(UK regs only please, to avoid confusion)
(Have already asked the police, and they said it is a grey area, full of pitfalls)

Lol...dude I'm rocking a real webley, and I'm from the north of Ireland and have never been stopped regarding this, but then again who's gonna question the Fett?.... :)

That's the kind of vibe I am getting. Was, in addition to going to Celebration next year, planning on wearing the armor, once completed, out for halowe'en with my son (he loves trick or treat, and I always make him Jedi robes etc... as he can't have face paint or plastics on his face as he reacts severely to them, and he always has an...escort...((Not an excuse for the old man to get dressed up, honestly...)

Have been advised to colour the weapon 'unrealistically' just to be sure, and to not act threateningly with it...

I find that typically (over here in Scotland at least, only been to England once with a blaster and I stayed inside the venue with it) that as long as you're in costume you won't really get bothered by police/security because they know what it's for and really get into it. If it's a con or Halloween or something and there's lots of other people with costumes around then it's obvious. However, this mainly applies to costumes that really make it clear that it's a prop (e.g Boba Fett holding an EE3), if you're walking around as a Colonial Marine or a character from Payday the heist or something like that and you've got quite a realistic looking gun then there'll be a lot more issues.

I think you should be fine as long as you're in costume, don't go around threatening people or going around yelling "Look I have a gun!"
