Good morning,
Just thought I would take a moment to introduce myself to the boards. I had been looking for this particular forum on TDH and now realized it was smack dab in front of me. :facepalm
At any rate, my name is Brad and I am in Virginia. I am new to costumes, props, and everything else around these parts. I started several weeks ago working on a TK setup and I have someone helping me put that together and I'm working on a few smaller projects as well. It's quite addictive building some of this stuff out (modding a Hasbro has been a blast). I thought I would drop by here and say hello as I'll be around this board for a long, long time.
Originally, I was going to work on a TK and I had dismissed putting together a Boba as something that was out of my reach due to lack of skill. As luck would have it, I made it to this board and I was surprised at how open everything was and how much folks truly want to help others around here. I realized that, although I may not currently have the ability to make all of my own stuff, there are some insanely talented artists around here who can help me build a costume of my favorite character either by their craft wares or by their knowledge and insight.
I made peace with the fact that building a nice Boba would likely take me quite some time to get done, but I would rather try and do it the right way. I'm still coming up to speed on everything, so I'm relying largely on the tutorials and the products offered on forum. Everyone I have reached out to for different items have been more than willing to help me in answering my stupid questions and other things. It's not all about simply taking my order for product and I appreciate that. It really is nice to be able to come to a forum where people aren't constantly in flame wars and bickering with each other. That gets old fast and I tend to avoid those types of forums as they reduce my allotted number of brain cells.
I'm hoping to build a ROTJ someday and I'd like to be able to contribute and give back at some point. I'll just have to learn a bunch more before I'm very useful. I figured I'd drop a note and introduce myself in case anyone actually reads this forum. Here's to the beginning of a great hobby!
