Sorry to revive a thread that's a year and a half old, but the information and pictures included within are relevant to my question, so it made sense to just add on rather than starting a new thread.
Anyway, I recently purchased the Stanley 50 gallon rolling container mentioned above, and shown in pictures by TK6628. I can most likely get by using bubble wrap and the soft parts of the Boba Fett costume as protection. But the pictures from the Pelican cases above, and from Fetthunter's case project
"THE CASE" Project - intrigue me.
I've thought about using the thick black foam as either inserts or as "trays" or levels to protect the more delicate of parts, notably the jetpack, gauntlets, helmet, etc. With the shape of the item cut out of the foam so it fits in snuggly.
When I bought the case at HomeDepot, I wandered around but all I saw was the blue and pink high density foam insulation, and the sheets of styrofoam insulation. Neither of which would do the job.
My question is two fold: first of all, the characteristics of this material are that it's a medium density (?) black foam...but is that what it's really called? Is it even considered foam? Secondly, does anyone know a good source for this material? Preferably in larger sheets.
