Variant backpack

New Hunter
Hey Everyone,

New guy here, well relatively new. I've been luking in the background for the past several months soaking up the wealth of knowledge TDH has to offer. This forum has been THE place when it comes to ideas and helping me along with my own Jango project (about 75% complete). My first attempt at a Jango, before I found this forum, was a disaster. As soon as I was dressed and had everything on...bits and peices and chunks started falling off. You folks have been a tremendous help since then and my Jango Fett is slowly coming to life.

I am currrently puttting the finishing touches on a Mandalorian variant. Imagine if you will crossing Boba Fett with the soldiers from HBO's World War II series Band of Brothers. If that didn't help at all (and it probably didn't) I do plan on posting pics here very soon.

The final missing peice of my variant design is a suitable backpack. The character in question does not wear a jet pack (doesn't like to fly). I WANT to outfit him with a modified clone commando backpack, but can't find one. Besides ebay can anyone think where I might locate one of these hard-to-find packs (finished or kit form...does not matter to me)?

Thanks in advance. Again, I hope to have pics up soon and look forward to your opinions (no matter how brutal they may be). Take care and I'll be screamin' at ya soon.

i think that would be a very cool variant, i always wanted to cross my mando with something very samurai/hakama/kimono style...i wouldnt know where to get the pack since im not really a clone/stormy expert, but i wish you good luck and can not wait to see pics of this variant!

You could build your own. I know of a site that has instructions for a sand-trooper style back pack out of found parts for under 20$. I think it was TK409 but I don't remember dor shure and I am on another computer.

If your talking about an ARC pack, then that would be cool if your building a heavy style suit. If your going with a medium or light mando, I'd think about something a little smaller and maybe back-hugging. Mandalorian armor is noted for it's ease to maneuver in. Maybe a comms pack or hostile environs pack would be worth looking at?

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the feedback. Originally I was thinking about using a backpack of the sort Fixer wears (Republic Commando), but you're right, that would be too bulky. The design would be wrong for what I'm attempting and would go against the more streamlined form most Mandos seem to prefer. Maybe instead I can go with the lighter, oval backpack I've seen some of the clone troopers wearing?

Oh, here is my Mando flak-vest (variant). It's a new take on the classic design. More pics to follow.

Wow, I like the idea of crossing Boba Fett with a member of the 506th PIR. It would be cool to see an Easy Company Mando.
The vest looks great. What is it made of?
Cant wait to see progress pics.
