Start with some rigid collodion scars and makeup application...
And a few Chinese made softparts.. And here’s my Joker costume I wore this Halloween!
Now before someone points out that everything is inaccurate I’d like to say that it was just done as a costume, not a costume replica. I had a great time wearing it.
I was in about 60 pictures or so and was the only true TDK Joker around my town of Keene. We have an event there called the Pumpkin festival which is held the weekend before Halloween and everyone comes out in the thousands to look at jack-o-lanterns and costumers. I got a ton of attention. The Joker is instantly recognizable and popular in the wake of The Dark Knight.
People would freak out and say how scary I was (I stayed in character most of the time and I think my impression is pretty good) and I found that as many people called me Heath Ledger as the Joker. One kid even had me sign an autograph for Ben from “Heath Ledger” and told me how much he liked “A Knight’s Tale”. Also I few people informed me as if I needed to know, “You know Heath Ledger is dead right?” This role is truly his legacy.
I had a great time doing this character. Although I never did come up with an appropriate response to “Why so serious?”
