Brief update!
Qneo (Voice Synth App Developer) got back to me regarding my questions about locking the phone and the music/siri autostart issue.
First of all, good news on the locking front. There is a function called 'Background Audio' that you need to engage. Unfortunately this is only available for the "PRO" version of the app...so you gotta fork over another $5, making the app a $10 total purchase. I will do this tonight and test.
Secondly, the music auto start, he claims, is because of the 4pin iPhone jack that auto starts the music when a cable is inserted. I explained to him that it doesn't always happen, and sometimes happens mid-speech within the Voice Synth app.
He said there may be an issue with the splitter that I have, or the 4pin iPhone jack may be loose. I will go to the Apple store this weekend to see what they think.
I noticed in my search that android users share the same issue with the music auto start, but saw more hope for them in turning it off.
More news/testing to come.

Ok. So, my audio issue might be an Apple issue. After doing some reading, I've heard a lot of people have had headphone jack issues that caused voice control and music to randomly play and go crazy. Hopefully none of you experience this - it's very frustrating. I will be going to an Apple store this weekend to get the jack replaced.

Ditto. Play with the bandwidth/distortion, disregard the static-burst mode and channel a lil' Clint Eastwood from the spaghetti westerns!
Rom/FX will plug into most amplifier/speakers with no problem.

I agree. I've played with the distortion, but if I add too much it gets to the point where what I say is unrecognizable. I'm happy with what I have right now, but I agree it needs a bit more of that rock 'n' roll smoker of 30 years kinda thing. I will keep tweaking.
I was playing around with my setup today a little, was having a bit of fun. I did play with a voice changer on the android market. I didn't have to tweak so much since my voice is already deeper, but the thing that was weird was if it was recorded it sounded pretty darn close to Boba. I tested in front of my roommate and he said that out of the amp it just sounded like my voice just amplified. I mean I heard myself, but figured it was the same kind of deal on how you hear what you sound like in your head and then you sound different in a recording. If any of that makes sense heh. So I think I might have to tweak a little more or move my amp further away? I'm not sure really cause I don't want people talking to my crotch or having it blast so loud it's ridiculous.

I haven't done a field test yet, but I imagine my amp is going to be pretty loud. Unless you're in a very quiet room, a lot of ambient noise (street, crowds, etc.) is going to cut through your amp.
What you should do to test is record a section of dialogue, and tweak that particular section until you're happy. Then when you go live, you don't need to worry about how it sounds, because when your helmet is on, your own voice will not be heard - but you will know how it sounds out the amp. Be sure to have your mic nice and close, and your amp loud enough to cut the ambient noise.

Ok, so hopefully none of you who have tried this experienced the same issues I have with audio. Do NOT purchase the cable that I suggested in my first recommendation.
I've spent quite a lot of time troubleshooting on my phone, Audrey's phone, different scenarios...heck, I even sent my phone into Apple for a replacement thinking the issue was my headphone jack.
I'm narrowing it down to the fact that my splitter is not compatible. I spoke with the Voice Synth crew and they recommend the following splitter:
iPhone 1/8 inch electret condenser microphone and headphone adapter - 3.5mm 4 conductor TRRS Male to 3.5mm TRS Jacks
They have experienced the same audio issues that I have had, and told me that this has proven to work. Only problem is that it's 4x the amount...at $28. STILL, this is a much cheaper solution than a dedicated voice changer (with the option to have multiple voices for other costumes). Just goes to show that the quality of the material is key in this situation.
It should ship to me within 2-4 weeks. I will update with results then. In the meantime, I will continue to make a better sounding Boba

Ok! Got my new cables in from KVConnection. Gotta say, they work flawlessly. I will do a more thorough test when I have more time, but just wanted to confirm that this splitter is what you need, not the StarTech one.

Is your headset mic an electret/condenser style mic? Maybe that's the issue with your original splitter adapter. I'm going to be using a Shure headset mic. It's a dynamic mic so it doesn't need the 48 volt power feed to make it work. Sounds like this splitter provide the 48 V phantom power a condenser mic needs...

I use the mic headset that came with the Aker Amp system. I tried other mics with the StarTech - Apple Headset, Sennheister lav mic.....still had issues. Maybe your mic will have better results. If you aren't sure, talk to the folks at KVConnection to confirm that you mic will work. I am not much of a sound guy so I have had to rely on trial and error, and lots of tech support to figure this out

I've taken an Aker apart and the speaker is a bit big to place behind your armor. I had the same idea. It would be very easy to use the Aker as your amp, and just switch out the speaker to something thinner that would be comfortable under your armor. You would have to put the amp part elsewhere. Normally I keep my Aker in my left belt pouch and people don't know where it's coming from.

I touch base on how you can use the app while your phone is locked by tapping on the "background audio" button (only in full version). This allows you to save your battery! Also be sure to put your phone into airplane mode to prevent the receiving of calls and texts.
Again, the splitter I used is: iPhone 1/8 inch electret condenser microphone and headphone adapter - 3.5mm 4 conductor TRRS Male to 3.5mm TRS Jacks
Don't forget to set your phone volume to about 37-43% to avoid feedback.

DeathProof, thanks for posting about this app. I'm awaiting my dual adapter but in the meantime I've created a great Fett voice, as well as a decent Vader and Boushh. Greedo should be fairly easy.
Oops, just read back a few posts. Looks like I'll be receiving the wrong adapter in the mail, but not from your supplier.
