Stencils for paint, weathering, and dents?
As far as I know people just use reference photos and do it by hand.
Unless you've suffered massive head trauma that severely impairs basic motor functions and hand/eye coordination, or you just really, really suck with art stuff, then it shouldn't be too hard.
Probably not the answer you are looking for, sorry. But maybe somebody else who knows more than us will drop by give some insight.
wow... um... thanks
That's a little rude. I've painted tons of armour and helmets before, but if stencils were available, I'd use them. Makes your armour and helmet more accurate.Stencils for paint, weathering, and dents?

that's what I was thinking too. I think I may be able to pull up some photos that I have on my computer. Although, I'd need to know the measurments of the armor so I could scale it right.Hi guys.
I'm an illustrator and I'd have trouble getting the paint detail correct without the templates. Templates are the way to go.
I actually had an idea while reading this thread. What if you found a bunch of ESB photos, took the best angels (straight on shots) of each piece and scaled them to the proper size using a photocopier or scanner/computer?
All you'd have to do is tracing out each color as a separate template.
Again this is just an idea, I'm nowhere close to painting my stuff yet, but I thought I'd throw it out there.
Good luck.
Just had an idea... is ROTJ armor the same shape as ESB armor? I wonder if I could just modify the ROTJ templates... just so I could get the right dimensions... that is, if whoever created them approves of me doing so
